Teaching Internship 2026Southport Learning Trust Teaching Internship 2026
At Southport Learning Trust, we believe in realising excellence by nurturing talent, developing future educators, and investing in the next generation of professionals. Our Teaching Internship Programme gives undergraduates and master’s students a meaningful, fully immersive experience of school life across our family of inclusive, aspirational schools.
A Purposeful Introduction to Teaching
Our Teaching Internships offer a unique, paid opportunity for those considering a teaching career in chemistry, computing, design and technology, mathematics, a foreign language or physics to explore the profession within a supportive, high‑performing Trust.
Interns receive £425 per week while gaining new skills, insights, and confidence as they experience life in our schools, each a beacon of aspiration within its community.
‘At Southport Learning Trust, everything we do begins and ends with the children in our care. Our Teaching Internship gives you the chance to see the difference a great teacher can make -the spark of understanding, the pride in a child’s achievements, the belief that they can do more than they ever imagined. When you join us, you’re stepping into a Trust where every decision is driven by what helps our pupils thrive. If you want an internship that connects you deeply with young people, inspires you through their energy and curiosity, and shows you the true purpose of teaching, Southport Learning Trust is where your journey should begin.

Throughout the internship, participants will explore key areas of the teaching role and develop their understanding of what it means to be an excellent teacher within a school in our thriving multi‑academy trust.
Interns will immerse themselves in school life, observing expert practitioners, working directly with pupils, taking on authentic responsibilities, and developing the professional habits required to excel in teaching.
‘Southport Learning Trust is the perfect place to launch your teaching career. Our interns won’t just observe great education, they will experience it, surrounded by inspiring staff, outstanding professional development, and a culture that champions ambition. If you want an internship that opens doors, builds confidence, and provides exceptional professional development, then Southport Learning Trust is where your journey should begin.’
