Governance at Southport Learning Trust
At Southport Learning Trust, strong and effective governance is at the heart of our mission to provide high-quality education across all our academies. Our Board of Trustees plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction of the Trust, ensuring financial oversight, and holding leadership to account for educational performance. By working collaboratively with school leaders, our Trustees help to maintain high standards, promote transparency, and support the success and well-being of every student across our Trust community.
Each school has its own Local Governing Body (LGB).
The LGBs provide an exceptional level of challenge and support to each school with the sole ambition of raising standards and achievement.
We are very fortunate to have wide range of skills and expertise within our LGBs with people who are passionate about serving their school community and obtaining the absolute best for every student.
THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY IS TO:
- implement and administer the Trusts policies at local level and report termly to the Board of Trustees
- monitor and be accountable for the performance and standards of the school to Ofsted
- support and challenge the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to deliver a high quality educational provision, which prepares our students well for their future regardless of the path they choose
- represent the views of the community
Southport Learning Trust is proud to have an open and diverse board that reflects the communities we serve. We are committed to inclusion, equality, and representation, welcoming individuals of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and beliefs. Our leadership values diverse perspectives, ensuring every voice is heard in shaping our vision and decisions.
