Merefield School

Joanne Sharpe

It is a true source of pride and delight that my first headship is at Merefield School, a place I have known and helped shape over the last 16 years. The pleasure of witnessing the remarkable progress and achievements our pupils make each and every day continues to humble me; it’s an honour to be a central part of that success.

As a mother of four wonderful children, now adults, I understand implicitly how valuable a child’s time at school truly is. My personal experience, particularly raising a child diagnosed with Autism, provides me with a deep well of empathy and understanding for the barriers that pupils and their families can face. This background fuels my passion for ensuring we provide an outstanding education for all pupils, regardless of any challenges.

Over the past two years, my focus has been on continuously building a school that provides children with many wonderful and exciting opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential. My unwavering priority is that every child feels happy, safe, and genuinely enjoys coming to school each day.

The vibrant, positive culture at Merefield is sustained by a hugely committed and wonderful staff team. They work tirelessly, day in and day out, to provide the best possible care, education, and support. This fantastic school culture is firmly underpinned by our core values of respect, integrity, and high expectations for every member of the whole school community.
